Cyclops in Marvel and The X-Men Universe
Scott Summers is one of the most important characters in X-Men history. Introduced in Marvel Comics in 1963, Cyclops is traditionally portrayed as a leader of the X-Men and possesses the ability to fire powerful optic blasts from his eyes. Because he cannot naturally control the beams, he relies on his signature ruby-quartz visor.
James Marsden previously portrayed Cyclops in the original X-Men film series, while Tye Sheridan played a younger version of Scott Summers in films including X-Men: Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix.
Marvel’s New X-Men Movie
Marvel fans have been waiting for the X-Men’s full arrival in the MCU since Disney acquired 21st Century Fox’s entertainment assets in 2019. The new movie gained momentum after Jake Schreier was brought on to direct, with Beef creator Lee Sung Jin and The Bear co-creator Joanna Calo working on the screenplay.
Kit Connor’s Rising Career
Connor became an international breakout star through his role in Netflix’s Heartstopper. His career has since expanded beyond the series, including an appearance in Alex Garland’s A24 war film Warfare.
Connor is also attached to the upcoming live-action adaptation of Elden Ring, adding another major franchise to his growing slate. Taking on Cyclops would now place him at the centre of Marvel’s long-awaited new era for the X-Men.
