Still Feeling the Pressure Despite So Much Success

Despite directing several successful Malaysian films, Adrian Teh admits he still feels nervous whenever a new project reaches the big screen. His latest film, Chelot, is no exception.

The filmmaker, whose previous credits include Malbatt: Misi Bakara, which grossed RM32.5 million, says every movie presents a different challenge and an opportunity to improve his craft.

A Different Side of Adrian Teh

While Adrian is known for action-heavy productions, Chelot takes a different approach by placing greater emphasis on drama, characters, and storytelling.

“The action scenes may not be as abundant as my other films, but the story itself is more compact and meaningful,” Adrian explained.

Chelot Sets a Malaysia Book of Records Achievement

That doesn’t mean Chelot is short on ambitious action. The film features an elaborate one-take sequence recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records for the Longest Single-Take Action Sequence in a Movie.

The sequence stretches across 1.9 KM and runs for 5 minutes and 19 seconds without a cut. Pulling it off required 150 days of preparation, a 300-member crew, 50 prop cars, and approximately 60 hours of rehearsals.

Adrian described the sequence as one of the most challenging scenes he has ever filmed, combining extensive coordination, timing, action choreography, and technical precision into a single continuous shot.

What Is Chelot About?

Chelot stars Shukri Yahaya as Inspector Haqqim, a special operations officer struggling with financial pressure and family problems. His circumstances eventually lead him to become an informant for a criminal syndicate, placing him in an increasingly dangerous situation.

The Malaysian film also features Beto Kusyairy, Shaheizy Sam, Azhan Rani, Nadhir Nasar, and Alicia Amin.
