Written by Kelvin on 21 Apr 2026

TLDR: Superman: Man of Tomorrow has officially entered production, with director James Gunn sharing behind-the-scenes photos from the set.

Among the images revealed were a chessboard, a Van Kull Prison badge for inmate A. Luthor, and even a bag of Ruffles chips, giving fans early hints about the film’s tone and world-building.

Superman and Lex Luthor Return in Sequel (And Working Together?)

David Corenswet returns as Superman in the sequel, which will see the Man of Steel forced into an uneasy alliance with his longtime enemy Lex Luthor, played by Nicholas Hoult.

Together, they must face an even greater threat in the form of Brainiac, the super-intelligent villain portrayed by Lars Eidinger.

Cast Expands with Maxima

The cast has grown with the addition of Adria Arjona, who joins the film as Maxima.

In the comics, the character is known as an alien queen who has appeared both as an antagonist and as a romantic figure in Superman’s story. Her arrival adds another intriguing dimension to the sequel.

Returning cast members include Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, alongside Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, Isabela Merced, Nathan Fillion, Edi Gathegi, and Aaron Pierre.
