Chris Pratt on Playing Mario
Discussing his casting, Pratt acknowledged the passionate fanbase: “There’s a passionate fan base, and I’m one of the fans. I get it. Mostly, people don’t want something like this to get screwed up. They’re precious about it. They’re careful. And I’m grateful for that.”
The actor, who played Super Mario Bros. “for hundreds of hours” as a kid, added: “Nothing really compares to it in terms of my relationship to the brand. I care just as much as everyone else to make sure that doesn’t get screwed up.”
Sky-High Global Box Office Expectations
The gamble paid off—the first film (The Super Mario Bros. Movie, 2023) was both a critical and commercial hit, earning over USD1.3 billion worldwide.
Industry experts predict this sequel will rank among 2026’s biggest releases.
