Marvel Makes It Official That Ryan Gosling Is to Star as Ghost Rider

Marvel Studios has officially announced that Ryan Gosling will play Johnny Blaze, better known as Ghost Rider, in a brand-new Marvel film directed by Shawn Levy.

The reveal was made by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige during the studio’s Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con, where the news received an enthusiastic response from fans.

Reuniting a Winning Team From Star Wars and The Adam Project

The project reunites Gosling and director Shawn Levy following their collaboration on Star Wars: Starfighter, which is set for release next year.

Screenwriter Jonathan Tropper, who also worked with Levy on The Adam Project and Starfighter, has been tapped to write the screenplay.

Speaking at Comic-Con, Gosling shared that Ghost Rider has been a character he has wanted to portray for many years. Levy also praised the actor, revealing that the pair had discussed bringing the Spirit of Vengeance to the big screen while working together on Starfighter.

Ghost Rider’s Legacy on Screen

Ghost Rider has previously appeared in live-action with Nicolas Cage starring as Johnny Blaze in the 2007 and 2011 films. Gabriel Luna later portrayed Robbie Reyes, another version of Ghost Rider, in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D..

The upcoming film marks Ryan Gosling’s first superhero role, introducing a fresh interpretation of one of Marvel’s most iconic supernatural characters as the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand.
