Fans of Tamil cinema have a major reason to celebrate: screen legends Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth are coming together for a new film, currently titled “KHxRK,” produced by Red Giant Movies. This marks their first full-fledged collaboration in over 40 years.
The film is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, who gained fame with Rajinikanth’s 2023 hit “Jailer.” Haasan and Rajinikanth were frequent co-stars in the late 1970s and early 1980s, appearing in classics like “Apoorva Raagangal,” “Moondru Mudichu,” and “16 Vayathinile.” Their last major film together was “Allauddinum Albhutha Vilakkum” (1979), with a cameo reunion in “Thillu Mullu” (1981).

“Bringing these two icons together is a dream come true,” said a spokesperson for Red Giant Movies. “This is a historic moment for Indian cinema, and we are honored to celebrate their legacy.”
The film features music by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Rajiv Menon, and editing by R. Nirmal. Costume design is by Pallavi Singh and Amritha Ram, with Suren G. and Alagiakoothan S. handling sound.
Rajinikanth was last seen in “Coolie” (2025), while Haasan’s most recent release was “Thug Life” (2025).
