It has been a stellar week for Chinese movies.
In second place was the IMAX sensation, Blades of the Guardians, which earned USD11.4 million over the weekend and has accumulated USD180 million in total box office revenue.
Third place went to Scare Out, an espionage thriller directed by Zhang Yimou. The film brought in $9.4 million for the weekend and has now reached USD174 million overall.
Meanwhile, Boonie Bears: The Hidden Protector continued to perform steadily, earning USD4.9 million during the weekend and bringing its cumulative total to USD143.1 million.
Rounding out the top five is Night King, a comedy-drama directed by Jack Ng and starring Dayo Wong and Sammi Cheng. The film earned USD3 million during the weekend, bringing its overall box office total to USD25.8 million.
