Written by Kelvin on 20 Aug 2026

TLDR: Street Fighter lead Noah Centineo gives high praise of the movie while stating there are a lot of easter eggs to be discovered.

Actor Gives Glowing Early Review

Noah Centineo has shared high praise for the upcoming Street Fighter movie, in which he stars as Ken Masters alongside Callina Liang as Chun-Li. The film follows Ken, a former boxing star recruited to compete in the tournament while confronting his past with Andrew Koji’s Ryu and facing off against David Dastmalchian’s M. Bison.

A Wild, High-Octane Experience

Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Centineo described making the reboot as an outrageous and incredibly fun experience. He praised the film as a massive, high-octane action movie that understands exactly what it wants to be while staying true to the elements fans love about the games.

Packed with Easter Eggs

Centineo promised that longtime fans will find hundreds of Easter eggs, memorable one-liners, and signature moves throughout the film. Director Kitao Sakurai and the cast reportedly spent significant time researching the franchise to make sure these references felt authentic.

The trailer has already highlighted several familiar elements, including the iconic car-destruction bonus stage, the “Perfect!” sound effect, and multiple Hadokens.

A Street Fighter Fan Gives His Approval

Centineo also shared a memorable reaction from a Paramount security guard who had been a lifelong Street Fighter fan. After attending a private screening, the guard enthusiastically approached the actor and praised the movie, reinforcing Centineo’s belief that the film was made first and foremost for fans of the franchise.

Star-Studded Cast

The reboot features a large ensemble cast, including Roman Reigns as Akuma, Cody Rhodes as Guile, 50 Cent as Blanka, Jason Momoa, Hirooki Goto as E. Honda, and Mel Jarnson as Cammy.

Can It Break the Video Game Movie Curse?

Street Fighter has had a complicated history on the big screen. The 1994 film starring Jean-Claude Van Damme eventually became a cult favourite despite poor reviews, while Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li struggled with both critics and audiences.

The new reboot aims to strike a better balance between fan nostalgia, over-the-top action, and accessibility for newcomers when it arrives in theaters in October 2026.
