TLDR: The DC Universe continues to build momentum following the critical and commercial success of James Gunn’s Superman reboot. With that, DC Studios is expanding its slate with several new projects connected to its growing cinematic universe.

New Justice League Movie on the Horizon, But Far Away
In a recent interview, DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran acknowledged that a Justice League movie is part of the long-term vision for the franchise.
However, the studio remains focused on delivering its currently announced projects before bringing the iconic superhero team together.
The upcoming slate includes Supergirl, the HBO series Lanterns, Clayface, Man of Tomorrow, The Batman: Part II, and The Brave and the Bold, which will introduce Batman into the main DC Universe.

Major Announcement: Gorilla Grodd Series
One of the biggest announcements from Safran was the confirmation of a new Gorilla Grodd series for HBO. Production is expected to begin later this year, marking the character’s second major live-action appearance following his role in The Flash television series.
Gorilla Grodd remains one of DC’s most unique villains, combining super intelligence, telepathic abilities, and immense physical strength, making him a natural candidate for a standalone project.
Jimmy Olsen Spinoff Moves Forward
The previously announced Jimmy Olsen spinoff is also moving forward as an HBO production. The series is being described as a true-crime mockumentary that follows Daily Planet reporters investigating cases involving super-powered villains.
Skyler Gisondo will reprise his role as Jimmy Olsen, while writers Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda, best known for American Vandal, will serve as showrunners. The series will focus on Daily Planet journalists other than Lois Lane and Clark Kent, offering a fresh perspective on the DC Universe.
